A Country House

Early in the summer of 2007, I accepted a commission to paint a watercolour of a country house. I rarely do commissions since I retired. I paint for my own personal pleasure and fulfillment, but this seemed an interesting assignment with a dream client who insisted she would "leave it all to me". We agreed on a fee and it was up to me to recommend the eventual photograph used as the basis for the painting.

The image size was to be 21" X 14", and I would use 300lb Arches cold pressed paper and W&N Artist's Quality watercolours. The  watercolour was framed and presented to my client's husband as a surprise Christmas present. For a complete step-by-step demo on Wetcanvas!, click here.
